Understandably, Ireland as a country is cautious of allowing new cultures to arrive on Irish soil. Although, at a time when nations are closing their borders, the ones who are lucky enough to leave the adversities behind, should be welcomed with open arms. This is not the case. Racism is rife in Ireland. The vast majority of the people who have arrived in Ireland are here to try change the faith of their future generations. A common misconception is that all people of different ethnic backgrounds are foreign nationals. Many of the people who are featured in this project are 2nd, 3rd generation Irish citizens of their different cultures, continuing their unique customs while also integrating into Irish tradition. This ongoing project, This Is Home, is about attempting to assist people to identify better with different cultures, in making a personal connection with a culture they may see every day but view as somewhat alien.
